  How much science we take on "faith"

  no real point here, just a funny thought popped in my head as i was reading yet another thread where people were being hammered with scientific facts and theories and i was nodding my head agreeing with the rational fact based explination when a thought occured to me: i take quite a bit of science on "faith".. what i mean is this, when i am reading the explination of particle physics, quantum mechanics, or molecular biology i have to take it on faith as i can't do the mathematical proofs and so on to verify what i am being told and i assume that is the case with most of us non-rocket scientists, and probably even many in the fields of science and technology.

  i like science, i enjoy reading discovery magazine and trying to keep up on the latest techno advancements, but i realized how much of it i take on "faith" as i have no way to verify or disprove what i am being told by a scientist.

  i recall einstein saying once that something like 6 people in the world truly understood the implications of his work.. so if you want to argue "faith", i'd say that many that believe in science have just as much faith as those that believe in religion.

  The difference is a religious belief is based on "blind" faith and a believer will not change that belief no matter what evidence that may be brought out contrary to that belief. Science is based on theories or beliefs back by observation and experimentation. If that theory by observation is proved wrong it is replaced by another theory.

  I recall my grandmother telling me bible stories when I was 5 years old and thinking it was a bunch of BS. At 5 years old I had enough intelligence to know it was a load of crap but it was always explained away that you just believed it because it was "Gods" word. Anyway I would rather believe in something I can prove than a book full of myths, legends and superstitions.

  Yellow Evolution Book?

  whats with the color?

  My mistake, I have been out of the loop too long and was confusing the Creation book with that other red book, I can't remember the name. Also I missed where it refered to it as being yellow although it doesn't look yellow but redish brown.

  It looks yellow but I think it a poor quality picture and it is the regular red Creation book.

  My thoughts on men who Body Build

  my two son's are body builders and i am wonering if they think they can take on the world .

  last year my son was in a bar fight and got sucker punched in the eye which required 5 stiches ,now my 21 year old comes home with a huge black eye, the biggest i have ever seen trying to break up a fight.. .

  now both these people that got a good shot at my kids where men much smaller in stature and size and seemed to land good punches.

  It doesn't take much of an IQ to get into a fight. When I was younger I never got into too many fight unless I was cornered, then that other person had better watch out. Better to walk away from trouble because all it would take is some wacko with a knife or a gun and it is all over.

  How much can you believe in the bible to begin with? The book is based on myths and fairytales, so what ever a person reads into it is based on that.

  An Invitation to a Wedding

  yesterday, i received in the mail a wedding invitation...well not actually a wedding invitation, it was more of a re-newal of vows invitation.

  This day and age nothing surprises me. Seems like there are occasions for everything and if a person were to go to all of them, they would end up broke. I know on my parents anniversary party we had, we stated that gifts would be declined.

  Sophia Loren is one actress that has aged gracefully. Not too bad for a 70+ year old woman but plastic surgery can do miracles. Same goes for Raquel Welch.

  "National Companies", a MLM scam?

  i attended, with my wife, a meeting last night.

  the mlm company is called "national companies", and sells two packages, each a two year agreement.

  i can't find any internet dialog, pro or con, about this company which is supposed to have started up mid 90's.

  If its an MLM sceme, the odds are you have more of a chance of winning the million dollar lottery then get rich with them. The percentage of those that make money in a MLM company are something like .01%. There are a number of web sites pro and con on MLM's. Most of them are about the bigger companies like Amway but they are all run basically the same way. If your wife still likes those odds then go for it...

  End of a Friendship

  I think we have all have losts friends at one time or another. I like to up front and honest. Tell it like it is. If a person cannot be at least honest and say what is on their mind, then the friendship really wasn't there to begin with.
